About
Journal of Medical Law and Bioethics (ISSN 1804-8137) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal on medical law and bioethics. The journal provides open access to its content - all published articles are accessible in PDF format free of charge. The journal is indexed in Directory of Open Access Journals and in the Czech RIV Directory.
Focus and Scope
The journal focuses mainly on health law and bioethics. The aim and mission of the journal is to provide theoretical studies and research papers on philosophical, sociocultural, sociological, historical, economic, legal and ethical issues related to the provision of health care and health and life care in general. However, this does not exclude other works, provided their outputs are in the above-mentioned areas.
The journal is intended primarily for researchers, educators, students, and others involved in health law, bioethics, and health care delivery.
The opportunity to publish in the journal is offered to all professional staff and students connected with the above-mentioned areas. Submission of papers to the editorial office, their processing, and peer review is carried out using online editorial software.
Peer Review Process
- All manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Board undergo prior to accepting a review procedure, during which two independent reviews are prepared, usually by members of the Editorial Board. The review procedure is double-blind. Manuscripts are not reviewed by persons who have institutional or other connections with the author.
- The review procedure usually takes no more than 12 weeks and the author is informed about its outcome. The Lawyer Quarterly, International Journal for Legal Research reserves the right to not publish an article or return an article to the review procedure, provided there are compelling reasons. This holds even if the outcome of the review procedure was positive (e.g. in case there was a significant change in legislation during or after the completion of the review procedure).
- Offering the manuscript to another journal while it is under review is considered unethical.
Publication Frequency
Journal of Medical Law and Bioethics is published 2 times a year.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
