On some current transgender issues

Abstract

The aim of this work is to draw attention to some bioethical difficulties associated with the topic of transsexuality and self-acceptance, especially in children and adolescents. More and more young people with sexual dysphoria are seeking medical attention.[1] For adolescents, the subject of transgender is very topical, especially in the context of finding and accepting oneself and one's physicality. Advances in medicine and approved laws make it possible to start a gender reassignment at a very early age.[2] Some data suggests a beneficial effect of hormone therapy on the later life of transgender people who underwent treatment as adolescents, compared to those who started treatment at a later age.[3] At the same time, a possible connection with posts on social networks about the change of gender and the number of juveniles who apply for a change of gender identity after watching them is shown.[4]

The identification of basic problems and expert insight into this topic in educational materials or counseling in schools should contribute to raising awareness of this issue in public space and thus mitigate some of the negative effects of social networks on the growing number of adolescents with sexual dysphoria.
