K právním a etickým problémům spojeným s narozením těžce malformovaného jedince

Abstract
Abstract
Modern medical diagnostic methods allow the detection of serious birth defects. Yet there are born severely malformed individuals who are unable (immediately or in the future) to use consciously actual state of their biological existence.
There is opinion that it should be possible to abandon the effort to save lives (even when there is a chance of survival) when the malformations of the neonates are so severe that they exclude the future possibility for meaningful and conscious human existence.
However, this should be a rare situation which should be avoided mainly by ensuring such a level of prenatal care and health education that the practical possibility of a full-term birth of severely malformed individuals would be excluded.
